About Us

D&S Trim has an interesting history to say the least!  In 1996, David Young and Stacey Shiflett launched their brand new construction company.  David and Stacey started their new business with just a few tools, sheer determination and the help of the Lord.  Though they were in Bible College together preparing for the ministry, they felt that this new endeavor would be good experience and a lot of fun as well.

Unlike many new businesses, D&S Trim did not flounder during their early years.  They started their construction business and overnight they were thrust into the "big leagues".  D&S Trim grew in just a few years to become one of the largest trim companies on Lake Oconee.  They worked almost exclusively in the prestigious Reynolds Plantation and it's surrounding golf communities such as Great Waters, Harbor Club, Cuscowilla and Port Armor.  These high class resorts demanded the highest quality craftsmanship and D&S Trim soon found themselves working on houses exceeding $7 Million.  David and Stacey worked together for a while, but their reputation for excellence and integrity soon had them in demand all over Lake Oconee.  Soon, the core crew blossomed into 5 crews.  D&S Trim has worked for the largest and most reputable builders on the Lake.  Here is a list of just a few of the builders that entrusted their interior and exterior carpentry to this clean-cut crew of craftsmen:

  • Chandler Construction

  • Bill Taylor Construction

  • Michael Hollis Construction

  • Garrett Geer Builders

  • Dutton Construction

  • Pilot Homes

  • Grayson Homes

  • Better Built Homes

  • and many more

Things were looking bright for this new construction company and it's two proud owners.  But the winds of change began to blow.

In the fall of 1999, David Young and his family were called away to Gulfport Mississippi to serve as a Youth Pastor.  Stacey assumed David's crews and continued working.  After a year of keeping things going, Stacey and his family surrendered to go to South Africa as church planting missionaries.  By this time, David had returned to take the helm of the construction company.

Today, Stacey and his family are still in South Africa, and David is very active in his home church, Antioch Baptist Church in Harlem, Georgia.  He teaches in the Bible College and is currently raising funds for the church's printing ministry.

The company that took Lake Oconee by storm has downsized to two crews.  But their quality and determination to please have not diminished.  If you are in the Greater Augusta area and are looking for a craftsman with integrity and honesty, D&S Trim is your answer.  Whether you are looking to build a new house or a new mantle, contact David today and let him give you a quote on your project.
